Estate Planning and Elder Law Collaborative of Northern Michigan
Working in collaboration with experienced and expert attorneys, William Bowron and Heather Dykstra, called Estate Planning and Elder Law Collaborative of Northern Michigan.
Each of us is an independent practitioner, agreeing to assist one another and our clients, if need be, and to assure clients of continuity in the event of retirement, disability or death. Bill is a former probate judge for Grand Traverse County. Heather has had years of experience with the Smith Haughey law firm and Robert W. Baird on the financial side. For me , as the oldest, it offers my clients assurance that their affairs will be in good hands, either on a daily basis, or if they choose to transfer their files at any point. Each of us agrees to assist another, and arrange transition in the event of death or disability. In other words, we are collaborating to give clients the security of a law firm, while maintaining the independence of each attorney. MEDICAID & VA BENEFITS
Payment for assisted living expenses becomes an issue for veterans and widows. Many vets or their widows face extra expenses when the exigencies to failing health mean that a vet, widow or both have to move into assisted living, a large facility, or a mom and pop operation with only a few residents. The added cost can wipe out a family’s savings in a matter of months or a few years.
